  8.       BACKGROUND
  9.       
  10.       ReachOut has a large number of modems from which you may choose
  11.       when configuring your communications setup. If your modem is not
  12.       listed, you may choose a modem similar to yours, or the generic A
  13.       Hayes Compatible 2400. Stac is always updating the list of
  14.       supported modems, and you may be able to find your modem on the
  15.       latest list. Refer to StacFaxes 8703 and 8304 for information on
  16.       basic communications configurations and dialing.

  18.       SOLUTION
  19.       
  20.           - Ensure you have the latest modem table.
  21.           - Configure the generic modem for your system.
  22.           - Write a modem string.
  23.            
  24.       Ensure you have the latest modem table
  25.       
  26.       Stac is constantly updating its modem table as new modems are
  27.       tested. Download the latest modem table from the Stac BBS at
  28.       (619) 794-3711. The filename to download is MTABLE.EXE. Place it
  29.       in your Reachout directory and run it to generate a new table.
  30.       This table may list your modem and you may simply select it from
  31.       the modem list.

  33.       Configure the generic modem for your system
  34.       
  35.       From the modem list, choose A Hayes Compatible 2400. Set your
  36.       communications speed to match your UART chip (19,200 for UART
  37.       8250 / 38,400 for UART 16550).

  39.       Write a modem string

  41.       See the ReachOut on-line Help in Windows for detailed information
  42.       on writing your own modem string. Open ReachOut Help and click on
  43.       the Configuration section. Choose 'How To...', then Define a New
  44.       Modem.
